MINDFUL EATING

Updated: Aug 17, 2021

Healthy eating habits that can help achieve your fitness goals easier.

Fitness and health are the buzzwords we see and hear everyday. With the tsunami of content around organic food and workout videos, slowly but surely the masses are becoming increasingly aware of how important their health and wellness is.

Whatever may your fitness goal be, the first step is always the hardest. However, there are some simple tips that if followed can make that journey towards your goal much easier.

“Simply losing weight isn’t fitness. As long as you feel healthy and confident in your own skin, and have an active lifestyle, you are no less fit than someone with toned abs.”

Balanced Diet

Incorporate different flavours into your daily routine. If you are only having greens, add some protein through pulses, grains or meat. If your sugar intake is high, try and include more fruits instead. Once in a while indulge in savory and spicy food items to keep your palette satiated while not fixating on just one food type.

Portion Control

This doesn’t mean eating less, but being more aware of the quantity of food you eat. Instead of munching on unhealthy snacks while binge watching, eat in silence so you can focus on your food and don’t overeat. Keep healthy salads, nuts and fruits around to satiate cravings.

Timing is Essential

Be mindful of the time you are eating at. Late or no breakfast, skipping lunch and late but over indulgent dinner greatly harms your health. Try and have the 3 main meals of the day at specific hours. Skipping meals leads to unhealthy cravings later, so be consistent with your meal timings.

Intermittent Fasting

Once a month or so, try intermittent fasting for a few hours. On that day, only eat fresh home cooked healthy meals. Avoid excessively salty or sweet foods to help your body detox.

Pro Tip: When setting up your meal plate, fill 1/3rd of it with salad, add one portion of greens or protein and one portion of grains, with balanced flavours like salty, savory, sour, bitter or sweet.
